Phanes Therapeutics, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotech company focused on innovative drug discovery and development in immuno-oncology. Currently, Phanes is conducting three Phase 2 clinical trials with spevatamig, peluntamig, and mavrostobart. Both spevatamig and peluntamig are first-in-class bispecific antibodies and have been granted orphan drug and Fast Track designations by the FDA.

Job Summary:
This position is on-site full time in San Diego, CA. The candidate will work alongside senior business development and R&D colleagues to engage pharma partners, manage existing partnerships, and support overall company business needs as they arise. The candidate is expected to have strong skills in driving the business development process. Dual scientific and business background is strongly preferred, and work experience in the life science setting (academic institutions, biotech/pharma industry, or consulting) is required. The candidate must be a team player and is expected to have good interpersonal and communication skills.
- The candidate should have licensing/business development experience in a life science-based entity.
- The candidate should have a good understanding of the drug discovery and development process.
- This candidate is expected to work with project teams to fully understand the key aspects of the pipeline and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of the company's business development strategy under the guidance of senior management. Develop a strong understanding of the oncology biotech partnering landscape, monitor industry trends and the competitive environment, and prepare concise analyses and updates for senior leadership.
- Conduct competitive landscape analyses to inform business development priorities and strategic decision-making.
- Identify out-licensing and strategic partnership opportunities. Organize and maintain business development opportunities in a centralized tracker.
- Coordinate interactions with prospective partners under the direction of senior management, including meeting planning, follow-up, and ongoing communications.
- Manage and support due diligence activities, including organizing and maintaining virtual data rooms, coordinating document requests, tracking diligence deliverables, and facilitating cross-functional information exchange.
- Coordinate the preparation, review, and execution of agreements in collaboration with the Legal team.
- Support the interpretation and operationalization of existing partnerships and agreements in close collaboration with Legal and Business Development leadership.
- Develop and maintain high-quality corporate and business development materials, including company presentations, investor and partner slide decks, press releases, website content, and social media communications.
Qualifications:
- The candidate must have business development experience in the life science setting (academic institutions, biotech/pharma industry, or consulting).
- The candidate is expected to have strong interpersonal and communication skills and must be a team player who can seamlessly collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- The candidate should have prior scientific background or related areas with a good understanding of the drug discovery and development process.
- Bachelor’s degree required (Life Sciences or Business), and Masters (Business-related) is a plus.
- At least 2 years of work experience of business development and/or alliance management in the life science setting (such as the biotech or pharmaceutical industry).
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skillset.

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $106,000.00 - $147,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
